What a girl wants

We celebrated Easter at Grammy and Grampy's house yesterday. The whole clan was there, and after dinner Ken distracted the kids in the TV room while Aunt Erin and I hid some plastic eggs Grammy had put together. Each child got six eggs, and once they were all found I helped Laurel open hers up. The first one had a dollar bill and a couple coins.

"Ooooooohhhh....ahhhhhhhhhh," Laurel sighed. "Dragon food!"

(I should explain here that the kids don't yet know what money is. Since I never carry cash, the only time they actually see money is when I have a random coin to put in their piggy bank - a dragon piggy bank with a coin slot in its mouth. Hence, money is called "dragon food.")

Laurel and I set aside the first egg and reached for another. We opened it...and found another dollar bill and some coins.

"More dragon food!" she exclaimed.

We opened the third egg, and the fourth, and the fifth and sixth. All contained dragon food. But as each prize was revealed, Laurel became less and less enthusiastic. By the last egg she was visibly disappointed, with an "Is that it?" expression on her face. We moved on to the Easter basket Grammy had gotten her. Pencils (boring), Pez candy (which she doesn't like), a box of sidewalk chalk (that I wouldn't let her open)...she wasn't very thrilled. But then at the bottom we saw a nondescript round metal tin. I helped her open it and inside found a small bag of M&Ms.

"CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!" she screamed.

And all was right with the world.

I'm going to have to agree with Laurel - what's Easter without the chocolate? In my case, it's chocolate peanut butter marshmellow eggs, but at the end of the day any chocolate will do :)

We're born with it I think! One of my DD's when she was very small found an empty wrapper in my purse. She smelled it (for whatever reason) and then said, "Chocolate"! No idea how she knew that but it cracked me up! :) Enjoy your day in the SITS spotlight!
